High powered nine-piece Sixties Soul band The Milford Street Shakers are set to bring their energetic brand of music to the newly opened Freo.Social.
"It’s about having respect for our history and culture and looking forward to a new journey," Milford Street Shakers band leader Dom says. The Milford Street Shakers will be supported at the dinner show concert by Albany-based DJ Dave Blaine, who will be driving up for the show to play R&B tracks with a touch of soul.
The Milford Street Shakers will then present Soul Slap, a journey packed with the high energy sound of 1960s Soul music. The show offers both general admittance and tickets for dinner and the show, but seating is limited to 160 and available on a first in best dressed basis.
Guests will be able to choose dishes from a variety of food trucks that will be a semi-permanent feature of the venue. As well as table seating, rather than theatre-style seating, there will be a range of more casual spots to watch the show with some areas featuring high tables and stools and benches around the perimeters.
Dom says the audience will be able to look forward to music that bridges the simplicity of the blues from the era with the sheer expressivity of R&B in a dance party of epic proportions.
"People will be able to get up and show us their moves to dance styles like Do the Watusi, the Mashed Potato, and the Twist."
