Adeliade's Windmill Theatre took home Best Work at the Ruby Awards on Friday night for its stage production of Pinocchio.
The modern interpretation of Carlo Collodi’s classic tale about a puppet that just wants to be a real boy has received an abundance of critical praise.
“The lofty standards that characterise every show from Windmill Theatre rise to new heights in a new take on a classic morality tale,” said The Australian.
Adelaide’s Windmill Theatre also won 2 Helpmann awards this year for its production of School Dance.
The other major Ruby Award winners were the Art Gallery of South Australia for the Best Event, an exhibition by British artist JMW Turner called Turner from the Tate: The Making of a Master and cereamic artist Milton Moon AM who won the Premier's Award for Lifetime Achievement.
