80’s new wave and synth-pop darlings, Real Life featuring David Sterry, return to Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on Sunday June 19 to perform all their classics.
With a strong new line-up of veteran performers led by founding vocalist/songwriter David Sterry, the band are in top form and primed to perform all their hits.
Real Life has always featured on both radio and club charts with their infectious mix of synths, guitars, and pop melodies. Their 1983 hit “Send Me an Angel”, which became a top 10 hit in Australia and went on to top the charts in New Zealand and Germany, and entered the top 30 in the US, gets many re-mixes every year and is constantly on Club/DJ charts. It has also amassed millions of streams across streaming platforms. The band have their songs featured in “The Righteous Gemstones”, “Jimmy Kimmel”, “Underbelly Razor”, “Teen Wolf 2”, “Rad”, “Once Bitten”, “Savage Streets”, and “Charlies Angels”.
The band's debut album, Heartland, entered the top 40 in Australia, Germany, New Zealand, and Switzerland, and peaked at #58 in the US. “Catch Me I’m Falling” was also a top 40 hit in Australia, German, Switzerland and the US. With subsequent albums “Flame” (1985), “Lifetime” (1990), “Happy” (1997), “Imperfection” (2004), “Send Me An Angel – 80’s Synth Essentials” (2009) and more recently “Sirens”, they've never stopped performing or recording.
